Privacy

Viter collects nothing about you: no telemetry, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising identifiers, no account. The only request it ever makes is checking a Pro licence — this page says exactly what that sends.

Effective 17 August 2026

Monitoring needs no network at all

Viter is a fan control app. Reading your Mac’s sensors and writing fan targets happens entirely on the machine, so the free monitoring side never touches the network. There is no account to create, no profile, no analytics, no crash reporting SDK, no advertising identifier, and no usage reporting of any kind. Commands from Shortcuts, scripts and the command line use a local connection available only to your macOS user; they do not cross the network. Viter collects none of this, so there is nothing to opt out of.

The one thing that does talk to a server

A Viter Pro licence has to be checked, and that check is the only network request the app makes. When you activate a key, and when Viter later re-verifies it, three things are sent to viter.app:

No sensor readings, fan settings, presets or usage data are ever part of that request, and the licence check keeps working offline for fourteen days between verifications.

What stays on your Mac

The privileged helper

Writing a fan target requires root — that is macOS, not a choice Viter made. One administrator prompt installs a small helper that launchd keeps running, so fan control survives relaunching the app and rebooting the Mac. It exists for exactly one purpose: passing fan speeds to the SMC. It opens no network connections and touches no user data.

Decline it and Viter keeps working as a monitor. It will tell you plainly that control is off rather than pretending a write succeeded.

Payments

Monitoring is free forever. If you buy Pro, the checkout is handled by Paddle as merchant of record: they process your card and issue the invoice under their own privacy policy, and Viter never receives or stores your card details. What comes back to the app is a licence key, not a customer profile. Subscriptions can be cancelled from the receipt Paddle emails you.

This website

These pages are static files. No cookies, no analytics, no tag managers, no trackers, no fingerprinting. Nothing is stored in your browser and no profile is built.

One honest exception: the two typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser requests them from Google’s servers, which sees that request including your IP address and user agent. Nothing else on the page reaches a third party.

Changes

If this policy changes, the effective date above changes with it, and the substance will not quietly reverse: an app that collects nothing about you is the point of the product, not a setting.
